Welcome! |
We welcome
you to our American Legion Post home on the Web and to our
community. It is our hope that this website serves to provide
information to our community and to our members. We invite
your comments and suggestions for improvement of this site and your
ideas on how we can continue to serve our community, state and
nation. We are Veterans...still serving America!
American Legion Post 342 is a host of VFW Post 131 at 5721
Johanna Road here in Lincoln. We have a good working
relationship with the VFW and they have graciously allowed us to use
the facilities as if they were ours. The club is open on the
first and third Fridays of the month, the second and fourth
Wednesdays of the month and the second and fourth Sunday mornings
for brunch. Please check the About Us
page for Club information and the Events
Calendar page for events.
Post 342 has a general meeting the first Thursday night of the
month, except for July and December. We discuss issues
concerning membership, Children and Youth program and Veterans
issues. We try to conduct fund raising events once a month to
fun our programs. |

The American Legion |
The American Legion is
the largest veteran's organization in the world, with a membership
of more than 2.8 million wartime veterans in the United States,
District of Columbia and four foreign countries. Members of The American Legion are
honorably discharged men and women who served their country on
active duty in the Armed Forces of the United States during World
War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Lebanon, Grenada, Panama and
Persian Gulf Wars and conflicts. Founded and organized in
1919, The American Legion has touched virtually every facet of
American life, fulfilling its main objective of service to the
community, state and nation.
Last year, The American Legion joined
with the Children's Miracle Network to raise nearly $4 million
dollars for CMN. Other needy children and families received
more than $11 million in cash and gifts from American Legion Posts.
Legion Posts provided nearly $5 million in emergency aid to veterans
last year. Deserving high school students were awarded $5.3
million in college scholarships. Almost $71 million was spent
by The American Legion and its affiliated organizations for the
benefit of children and youth last year.
Local charity campaigns received over
$16 million in donations from local American Legion Posts.
Legionnaires across the country donate more than a million hours
each year in the Veteran's Administration "Voluntary Service
Program," helping patients in VA Medical Facilities. Legion
members donated over 3 million hours of service to their
communities. The American Legion
has also, for many years, conducted programs that have been designed
to benefit the youth of our nation.
